She’s a former Alternative Miss Ireland and star of The All Ireland Talent Show and now she’s causing mayhem on the airwaves on Beat 102-103!

 

Kate’s Party
Brewery Corner / 10PM / FREE

Kate’s Party female fronted alternative rock band They started out as an acoustic two-piece playing gigs across Ireland and the UK before forming the full sound they play today. With influences including No Doubt, Smashing Pumpkins, Blink-182 and Alkaline Trio.

 

Captain Anchor’s DJ Set
Brewery Corner / 11PM / FREE /

 

Captain Anchor began as a cabaret act in Edinburgh and has since expanded his creative output to include DJ mixes, male burlesque and alternative modelling. His brand new mix is sure to keep you dancing into the early hours!

Bunny, by Spark Productions
Cleere’s Theatre / 8PM / €8 

One of Kilkenny’s best new theatre companies hit OUT For The Weekend with an Irish debut show. After their hit performance of Roddy Doyle’s Brownbread in The Watergate Theatre, Spark Productions are hitting Kilkenny for an extended run of their exciting new show, Bunny.

 

Arthur’s Deception, by Dramatic Irony
Watergate Theatre / 8PM / €10/8 

Kilkenny’s newest and youngest theatre companies to this years festival. In the space of a year Dramatic Irony have built up a fantastic reputation as a daring and exciting young theatre group and have garnered praise for their original works.

Arthur’s Deception, written by Niall O’Riordan and directed by David Brydone & Amy Mullholland, takes place in 19th century London and tells the story of Arthur Grimshaw, an impoverished pick-pocket who falls in love with Elizabeth King, a lady of Clapham. In a desperate attempt to win her love, as well as the blessing of her parents – he pretends to be an aristocrat by using the fake persona “William Richman”. However, Arthur is unaware that he is being hunted by the vengeful villain Jeremy Black who holds a lasting vendetta against him and his future with Elizabeth is in danger.

Ojaras’k

 Cleere’s Theatre / 9.30pm / €5 

Ojaras’k are a Spanish punk cover band based in Granada, Spain. The group consists of Will and Mendoza (vocals), Numan (lead guitar), Maeve (rhythm guitar), Alex (bass) and Agustín (drums).

 

Grenade

 Brewery Corner / 10pm / FREE / @grenadecork

 All the way from Cork and Kerry, Grenade are a female harmonic acoustic duo who will be hitting Kilkenny’s Pride for the first time. They have played all over Ireland as well as being crowned the winners of Prides Got Talent in Mas Palomas Gran Canaria where they performed in front of 25,000. 

 

The Filibusters
The Pumphouse / 8pm / FREE 
The comedy treat for this festival is a night of live standup comedy from Limerick based comedy troupe The Filibusters. Adam Leahy (returning for a second year to the festival), Stephen Ryan, Donnchadh Tiernan and John Spillane have been making big waves throughout the Irish comedy scene over the last two years

 

Evan Prendergast
The Pumphouse / 10pm / FREE
Evan has been making waves around the country with his blend of reggae/folk influenced tunes and his upstairs gig in the Pumphouse is definitely going to be one for every music lover going out this weekend.

 

All Time DJ’s present Naughty Noughties
Brewery Corner / 11.30pm / FREE
Dance through a decade when Kilkenny’s costumed djing duo return to OFTW after blitzing the 80’s and 90’s in our last two festivals.

 

Trail Kilkenny Walking The River Nore
The Parade / 11.45am / €3 /
Get OUT for some fresh air with a walk around the environs of Kilkenny city and Bennettsbridge. Get a bus out to Bennetsbridge and then enjoy the scenic stroll along the Nore back into the city. The pick up points are 11.30am from Padmore and Barnes on Wolfe Tone Street and 11.45am from the Parade. Bus tickets are €3 and include a route map.

 

BRB by Kirby Productions
The Drum/ Saturday August 24th / 1pm/ 
This electric show proved to be a smash hit at the 10th International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival. BRB is a funny, sometimes serious play about four teenagers navigating self-acceptance, sexuality, social pressures and relationships during their final year of secondary school in a small town.

The Beer And Board Games Championships

Battle it out for some tasty craft beer prizes in a tournament that will crown Kilkenny’s masters of board games. Tournaments on the day will include Jenga, Connect 4 and Scrabble with many more to come.

 

The Bord na Móna Mountain Rescue Team

These boys are energetic music makers hailing from the town of Birr, Co. Offaly in the heart of the boglands. Playing a broad range of genres from Americana to Christy Moore to Jack Johnson to Mika and more.

 

The Big Gay Cinema Day

A selection of LGBT shorts and one very special feature presentation make up the cinematic goodies on display. Mostly on the comedy side of things so your funny bone will be well and truly tickled.

Ian has been the resident DJ for the festival and other OFTW events since 2010. His style ranges from cheesy pop to edgier and cooler grooves. He’s also been an active member on the production team since 2011.
