Dublin, Ireland / November 13, 2012 — The third annual Ms Gay Ireland national final will be held in The George, Dublin on November 23rd 2012. The event sees LGBT women from all over Ireland compete for the title of Ms Gay Ireland.

The event seeks to bring LGBT visibility to communities throughout Ireland with heats held in cities and towns up and down the country. The winner gets the right to host the competition in their home town the following year and this year, Dublin gets the honour thanks to current title holder Emma Parkes. They also win 50% of the prize money for their chosen charity. Ms Gay Ireland also raises money for the LGBT Diversity National Trust Fund which provides funding for projects throughout the country.

The final will be hosted by Charmin Eletrik & Phil T Gorgeous. Doors open at 8pm with admission €5.

Ms Gay Ireland is a national competition celebrating LGBT women from all over Ireland. Heats are organised based on geographical location with each winner representing their area in the Ms Gay Ireland final. Contestants take part in three rounds comprising of an introduction, an interview and answering a question relating to LGBT life. The winner is chosen by a panel of judges comprising of notable members of the community from all over Ireland.

The first national final was held in The Forum, Waterford City in September 2010 with Ms Gay Limerick, Tasha Clyde, claiming victory. With the winner’s area hosting the following competition, the final moved to the banks of the Shannon in 2011 with Dolan’s Warehouse, Limerick playing host. Dublin’s Emma Parkes won and so for 2012, the competition will be held in The George in Dublin, Ireland’s most famous gay venue.

Ms Gay Ireland is a charity event with 50% of the proceeds going to the LGBT Diversity National Trust Fund which supports projects in communities throughout Ireland. The remaining 50% is awarded to a charity selected by the winner of the competition. In 2010, Rainbow Support Services in Limerick was the beneficiary and in 2011 it was BelongTo.
